My dog, for the last couple of years ,has gotten really bad about scratching, pulling out hair, flea allergy, and everything else. If it is yeast Epsom salts soothes her quickly. But I think this time it is a food allergy. There is not much if anything she does not react to. It is easy for me to see that it is internal itching the way she scratches. I fixed up 2 drops of BurBur in chlorophyll, the first mix. She calmed right down and went to sleep. BurBur is a detox. The next time I made a tea of a few juniper berries , honey and vitamin C. I will not use the juniper berries again. They are too harsh though they have healing qualities but should not be used if there are any kidney problems. This evening the mix is honey ,peppermint tea, vitamin C, chlorophyll and 2 drops of BurBur. She gets 20 ccs of this mixture 4-5 times a day. She loves it and will ask for it. It helps me too because she does not do that constant scratching.

i have been constantly scratchibg too, i knew mine was from the dry air in the house, but, dumb me, i didnt think that might be why mine were scratching. finally realized that was what it was with them , so i rubbed coconut oil into their skin--andstarted feeding them a bite each day--solved their problem

What do you feed your dog? Changing foods often balances the body.

Zignature kangaroo. Expensive but it was the only kibble without chicken or chicken products. She does better...she has a full coat of hair! But it is not a favorite nor has it ever been . I have gone through so many kinds of kibble. But then neither can she tolerate Home raised pork, or beef and chicken puts more weight on her than you would believe.

I'm no dog expert but my vet a few years ago told me that rice and turkey are the most likely things for an allegic dog to tolerate.

Also not an expert here, just offering anecdotal evidence. My poor dog’s back was terrible, inflamed and broken skin, with hair gone. She was scratching against posts, etc. I used cream from the vet, who suggested she was allergic to flea bites but I didn’t see fleas. My aunt recommended giving her an egg each day (I have chickens so it was organic and easy) because it would heal her skin. It really did, hair grew back, and she’s had glossy beautiful skin for the two years since without itching or scratching. I also have fed her turkey and rice dry food, even before that.

No eggs and no turkey . Home baked turkey commercially raised can send her into crazy whining and scrubbing her back. I am in hopes if I move from here it will be different. You just don’t know how hard it is to live with such a good dog that I love and try to find something she can tolerate.

I don't know what's causing the scratching, but every winter both of my dogs scratch and end up with spots that are hairless. The vet told me to give the big girl we had 75 lb. a whole .3 mg. of Melatonin and our little guy, 20 lbs. 1/2 of the pill, every day. My dogs lost their hair only in winter. Vet said because they weren't outside as much as in warmer weather. I've been giving it to the little guy, (we lost the big girl,) every evening. I start in December. He hasn't scratched or lost hair since the Melatonin....we started this new pill 4 years ago. Maybe this would help?

This is a year around problem. Yes she has a flea allergy but her itching is inside now. The flea allergy is severe and she really rips the hair out then. She can’t tolerate mineral oil on her skin, now. It is used as the base in the flea spray I got. Often she groans and will beg me to do something for her. Charcoal helps sometimes and she knows it. But other times charcoal does nothing. Laundry detergent is another problem for her but that may be due to our acid water which she will not drink.. I taught her that it makes her sick... she vomited for nearly 5 months and her body got overly acidic. Putting her on bottle spring water stopped the vomiting.
