baby ducks and baby chicks can be kept in same brooder box and grow out pen? my daughter came home with three chicks and two ducklings from the feed store a few weeks ago and now we need to move them out to a bigger brooder box( chicken tractor with enclosed box and door to the run) we only have the one for the five of them but the guy at feed store said to not mix them. All my friends locally mix their chickens and ducks with no problems.
Can ducks not have chick starter? Again, the feed store man told daughter No and sold her a bag of Meat Maker....we aren't eating the ducks she just wanted ducks! I am wondering if he told her that so he could make a bigger sale.
TIA for any help!

With that small number you'll be OK with them all together
The ducks will need a waterer that allows them to submerge their bills since they can have a hard time with dried foods
They can eat chick starter just fine and will only need it a few weeks If you can let the free range, they will quickly switch to a diet of mostly bugs

Do remember that ducklings have no real way to defend themselves against sharp chicken beaks. Me, I would separate them. Even just with a bit of chicken wire or a grate of some sort, like a dividing screen between them. They can share the same heatlamp if you set it up right.

I have kept them together before without any problems, I also have had turkeys with ducks before.

Chicks like to have a roost. If you put a board in the pen, or even a stick, they will sit on this and the ducklings will be safe on the ground, even if it is only an inch or two difference in height.
