SO I went in Tractor Supply. This is the last week for chicks. They had 46 ISA Brown pullets marked down from $2.49 each to $1.50 each. I asked the guy if they would lower the price anymore if I took them all. I got them for 75 cents each!!! They are already a couple of weeks old, so I got a great deal. They had 12 Pekin ducks. I told him I'll call back at the end of the week to see if they still have them. If they do he said they would give me a deal on them too.

I can't! I should have 146 layers in the brooder. Quite a few will go to the Mexicans for eating. I think I have lost a total of 4 so far.

Wow! Now I don't feel so bad about buying 9 pullets and 11 roosters. LOL

I had to look up the ISA Browns to see what they are. I have 6-7 in my flock now, known here as Red Stars. Very, very nice birds, like them a lot.

I like the Red Stars too. They start laying at about four months. I hate waiting six months for an egg.
