How many of you have invested in dedicated cheese making equipment? We realized thru trial and ERRORS that we could do a better job on sterilization. We ran across a blogger\youtuber that recommended using dedicated equipment. Ie. Dont use your chicken broth stock pot for cheese--buy one just for cheese and only cheese it shall hold.

I wish stainless steel was not so expensive. We are slowly getting dedicated equipment for dairy and cheese making. Now it is hard to try and make room for everything

I don't have dedicated pots but do have molds and stuff. I didn't know you have separate pots , is okay if I use stainless steel?

I started out that way, but, well, a couple of times my cheese pot has been used to soak beans. Yeah I know. A big stainless pot is so tempting for so many things. Looking back, I think I now know why my mom was so willing to wring my neck when I used her pinking shears to split a chicken breast.

From the beginning, I got a large tub with a good lid and placed all my milking supplies in there. They are only used for milk and cheesemaking. I have a couple more tubs just for the jars I use for milk. Most are 1/2 gallon jars along with a few quarts and pints. I also keep the butter mold containers in there. The tubs keep everything clean and it's so handy to have everything I need gathered in one spot.
I never did buy an actual stainless steel milking pail. I was told about a stainless steel pot set (3 pc.) with lids sold at walmart. I also picked up a larger stainless steel pot with lid from somewhere These have worked well in my hand milking routine.

And especially chicken -yuck......your poor mom.

My SS pots get used for everything from soapmaking to cheeses to cooking. The only dedicated equipment I have are the stick blenders that I use for making soap (can't get all the essential oils off the plastic) and my dye pots for fiber arts.
