but eerily still and quiet. All the hot summer days I have know had some breeze. Very little bird, bug, dog or people activity. All the creatures seem to just be hopping they can survive until sunset.

We're on day 12 or 14 of over 105F. Very oven like. Stifling.
Everything is so hot, crispy, and dusty. No breeze. We are sitting on a tinderbox. Everything is so brown. The neighbor's front yard caught on fire last weekend from the powerline. Thankfully their grass is short and there was no wind. We saw it happen so we were able to start hosing it while until the vfd could finish putting it out.
The ground has huge cracks in it, ankle-breakers. When I dumped the goose pools this morning to refill you could hear the ground gulping the water.
It's been awhile since we had a summer like this. Hardly any rain this spring too. I suspect this winter we are going to make up for the last two extremely mild years. It seems the extreme of one season effects the other.

It is now Monday and the present temperature is 109°. Mowed some this morning. Kind of like people in underground shelters during WWII, just waiting for the heat attack to end. After sunset we will go outside and assess the damage and give God thanks for our survival.

That's way too hot. I can barely survive over 80 degrees F. When we had hot weather, the air conditioner was barely keeping up in the one room where we have it. I took ice packs I use on my hips and put them on me, to stop the sweating, it was the first relief I had all day.

We're having a welcome cooling off/rainy period. In the mid 80's during the day and in the high 60's over night.

Last few days have been 100 or 101 with heat warnings. You do whatever you need to do from daylight to about 10, then get outside for the last hour of daylight.
