And on what do you base your prediction?
I'd say it's going to be early (finding lots of spiders in the house already) and cold (cows are putting on their winter coats already).
What say you?

I don't know but I have pumpkins already nearly ripe. I have NEVER had pumpkins this ripe in mid August. On the other hand, the tomatoes are full of green tomatoes that are showing no inclination to turn red. My first tomatoes are finally ready and turning red, yesterday and today was my first batch of tomatoes, and so late, mid-august. My hair is growing like crazy...hmmm.
The spring was too wet, the summer too warm, and next, fall, I hope it falls slowly. I can guarantee winter will have less light and Christmas and it will last too long, not too much else.

Today was our 40th day with triple digit temperatures.
Really wearing me out just stepping outside. I feel like such an old man.
I don't know what your idea of winter is, but some nice, gentle days in the 80s sure would be nice. Hopefully somewhere around the first of fall. I could see temps in the 60s this winter, and maybe even the 50s during some bitter cold snaps.
I don't have any reasons, just hopeful thinking.

Hopefully one with a ton of snow. We've had only one day of real rain in about 3 months. The smoke from all of the fires is out of control.

Correction, 41 days of triple digit temperatures. We had a high of 49 F today. All politics and weather are local. This morning's low was 80°. The high this afternoon was 104°. 43rd triple-digit day this year.

I don't know what kind of winter we'll have, I just wish it would get here. I can't take any more of this hot, humid weather! I'm ready for fall!

I never take too much stock in much of what ya hear... I just always hope that we will have one with a lot of daytime temps above 32 degrees since the waterline out to the coops is a shallow one... Last winter I hauled water from the house just about everyday from November - April... At least I got additional exercise! But I digress... which I often do... But, just for fun I was checking this out... www.farmersalmanac.com/20-signs-of-a-hard-winter-479*Our Red Headed Woodpeckers are finally back in record numbers after several years hiatus... I do often see them sharing a tree - not sure how much stock I put into that though! *We have DEFINITELY been noticing HUMONGOUS spider webs for the first time ever! We were taking notice of them (and freaking out) before I ever came across the article above. And for the first time ever (we've lived here 14 years) we are seeing them high in the trees. I thought I read somewhere that it is an indication as well... This one is 25-30 feet from the ground... *I have indeed been noticing the ants always seem to be in a line and on the fast track during my trips out to the coops. *Have noticed an overabundance of acorns as well. *The majority of the woollyworms I'm seeing are all black - oh my! (We have some crazy neighbors around here that always freak out at that!) I realize that the 20 signs are probably just old wive's tales but it has indeed been interesting to note some of the stuff we are seeing for the first time in 14 years... Guess time will tell! ~Mari

Farmers almanac weather is not by any means factual here.
Just pays to be ready for the worst.

We're seeing lots of spiders in the house and have already caught 2 mice inside too. Yuck!
And the barn cat has quite a winter coat started already. Seems like that popped up overnight.
But no matter. Whatever we get, we're ready.
