Unlike some of you, only place I can buy salmon is grocery store. Several yrs ago went with friend to Sam's club. She turned package of salmon over; said it was from China. I would never buy any meat from China. Is meat still marked with country of origin? Won't go to store for a while. Curious.

Make sure it is wild caught. Most Atlantic salmon is farm raised anymore. Wild Alaska Salmon is GOOD but a lot is caught off the Oregon/Washington Coast or in the rivers here. Just got a nice one yesterday 10 miles from home. Nice bright fall salmon at the mouth of the Columbia River. Not so bright close to spawning grounds but still good for smoking and canning....James

Alaskan salmon is caught in alaska and sent to China for processing then it returns to the usa. Sullivan: “Important change for Alaska’s seafood industry and the more than 60,000 jobs it contributes to our economy” WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) – the chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries, and Coast Guard – welcomed the recent decision by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) to remove proposed tariffs on Alaska salmon from a list of approximately $200 billion worth of additional tariffs on Chinese imports. The change comes following months of engagement by Senator Sullivan and his staff to protect hardworking Alaskan fisherman and to educate the administration on the unintended impacts of this proposal. link

Wonder if China processed salmon is as badly processed as chicken? If salmon is sent to China for processing, don't see how that can be a good thing.

@paisley, Didn't mean to be sarcastic. Have seen videos of how chickens are processed in China. Disgusting.

Here we buy Norwegian farmed salmon, smoke it in Denmark, send it to Poland to be sliced/packaged and then sell it in Denmark with a big DANISH SMOKED label on it. I remember when I was in the Dominican republic they were complaining that their pineapples were sent to the US to be tinned and then sold back to them at 3x the price.

paquebot , That's right. Here in NC, major chicken factories are very near. Every year, they don't pass inspections; due to mistreating chickens. Can't remember which co. it is. It's not Tyson. Wish I could remember which one it is. Smithfield Products, sold out to China couple yrs ago. Envy those of you who produce their own food. Remembered, it's Butter Ball. Literally, news shows employees kicking chickens to death. Disturbing.
