Hey all. Just wanted to give y'all a head up on a product. It's the least we can do for each other trying to live a homesteading lifestyle. Last fall I made a trip to harbor freight. It's a lot of cheap stuff but some things don't really have to be quality.I bought 3 ten packs of bungee cords thinking they would be a standard in that product line. WRONG! I have these stretched along side the inside of my truck bed,Went to get one to strap something down and ALL of them broke in my hand! Don't waist your money! I can't tell you where to buy them but I now know where not to buy them!Hope this'll save y'all some money!

Thank you. I am a harbor freight junkie. Some things I know not to put much faith in, but many things have surpassed my expectations.

Wow! We're Harbor Freight regulars, and Nick just held up a fresh package we picked up on my birthday trip to Big Town.
Hope they're not the same brand as the ones you got.

I try to avoid Hazard Fraught tools. I do feel like I got a deal on the Honda Chinese clone engine I bought there. I works well in my garden tractor.
I don't know where to buy good straps. The pack I got at TSC was junky. Maybe I should go to a tarp maker, we have one around here. Truckers buy theirs there, I am sure they aren't junk.

Well if you find good ones somewhere please let us know. I'm so tired of spending good money on junk!

Some stuff at Harbor Freight we don't even bother with, but nitrile gloves and toss-away tools are okay.
Don't know if the bungees we just picked up are any good. The ones we got last year are still holding tarps over the hay, though.

I bought some that are the thick rubber. LOVE them! they are a little more pricey than the "rope/elastic" ones, but worth every pinny. I have no clue as to the brand. I'll look and see if they have anything on them next time I go to the farm.

Bungee straps? Must be a new thing. I still use baling twine and inner tubes cut crosswise into rubber bands. MMMM Never been in a harbor Freight store.DS buys things there, some seem alright, always showing me lots of free stuff he got there....James

Trouble is anymore even if you are willing to pay more and do go to big box store, lot times its just same Chinese stuff painted different color and only real difference is the price.

Lots of their stuff is good for ever now and then use but not contentious use .I had to up grade to a chop saw with a 8 hp 3ph motor on it . I had a order over a few weeks time for 10,00 sticks .I don't think it made a 1,000 cuts before I let the blue smoke out of it. Yes I knew better but it was all I had at that time .

Pretty much true. I did notice the skill saw I bought has a smaller housing for the motor. But there is a $60 difference in price too. If it lasts a year, I'll be more than pleased. Cut the cord on my big box store saw.

We love Harbor Freight as a "proof of concept" place. When we think we need a new tool we go there first and buy it cheap. If we use it enough or miss it when it breaks we then get a better quality one from some place else. Also if we know we need it only for project X, we run to HF. We also buy all our kids' first hand tools from there. Since we start their toolboxes before they are old enough to be truly good to them.....we go cheap. It helps keep our kids' paws off our tools, but still gives them all the opportunity to explore and destroy

2 words - ratchet straps! But not the ones from Harbor Freight. I buy four packs from Menards that are $35 and they are strong and durable. I want straps that will work today and be just as good 20 years from today.
