Since I can't have chickens currently, I've had courtnix quail for almost 2 yrs. I think they are perfect for the " urban homesteader". They are quiet, mature quickly and are good egg producers. I've hatched out 10 in the last 2 days. The 1st picture is 1 hatched 3wks ago. They grow so quickly! Does anyone else have courtnix? Attachments:

Used to raise them, and we had pretty good luck hatching too. That is some fine eatin' isn't it? I used to make three, one for me, 2 for DH. I always loved the roosters' crow. And the 5 weeks til the little eggs.
Ever dye them for Easter? They are really pretty! (The eggs, not the chicks!)

I usually cook them up in a pot pie. We like the meat that way. I love the eggs. Probably haven't bought 5 dz chicken eggs in the last year. Use them for everything.

They are cute.
If I had the room, would try out a few.
