Has anybody tried a new gardening technique or a new plant variety this year, that will change what you do or what you plant next year?

This year I used epsom salt along with 20 20 20 fertilizer. Used on entire garden and flowers, inside plants. The garden yield and colors are much improved, .this combination will become a regular program for us. Next spring I might try it on the orchard

Was your ground deficient in magnesium?

I have never tried Epsom salts since I saw a beautiful garden turn yellow and die. I do not know the amount used, do know the owner had used Epsom salts each spring

I ordered some winged bean seeds to plant...thought they would look pretty on the trellis, but a big disappointment...they have only been thin vines...no beans, and sparse....will not try to plant them again....

You know, I think the things that don't work out are often as important as the ones that do...

Jolly, I have no idea of magnesium levels as no soil test was done. Based on results I would guess maybe. The information on the Epson salt container suggested 2 teaspoons per foot of height every 2 weeks on tomatoes. .

Every year I try something new with some success and some failures.
Celery was a keeper. Artichokes was a bust.
I am trying horse radish this year. My wife says that I will regret putting such an evasive plant in the garden.

My wife says that I will regret putting such an evasive plant in the garden. Maybe start with a single raised bed? Thanks Jolly, I do have them in my raised bed I built a few years ago. It is dedicated to my herbs. So, I did listen to my wife (kind of)....
