I'd like to install shutters on a window, but noticed that the inside wood frame on the left side of the window is warping outward. I could replace the board easily, but it's rough pine and the aging would look different from what is there (clear poly when it was installed 18 yrs ago).
Should or can I remove the board and do something to unwarrp it and return it to it's place and put up the shutter?
I don't see any leak.
Help appreciated!

I suspect you'll have to replace the board. You might could pull it back into shape with screws, but it would look bad.
Anybody else have any ideas?

I'd replace it also. If nothing else, you ensure it is not warping because water is getting in somewhere. And if water is the cause of the warping, better to find out now than later.
I agree screws *might* do the trick today but no guarantee long term. And yes, the aesthetics of it would leave a lot to be desired.

Well, if you wet the wood you can probably change its shape back to flat by putting a weight atop it and letting it set for awhile.

You might be able to stain the new wood to match the old wood. Close enough.

Or just stain it all.

I do know that to keep a table top from warping over time, finishing the back like the front will hold it flat.
