You might feel differently, but some of the Ford diesel pickups have been lacking in reliability. I had no idea until I was doing a little research, but putting Cummins motors into Fords is a popular swap. www.dieselconversion.com

At the time of the late 1960s when International came out with the diesel V-8 it seemed they may be OK in farm field equipment, but I was leery of them in road trucks. I believe these engines were the first generation and later of Ford V-8 diesels. To this day I'm leery.. However I do have to admit the 2018 (?) 2019 model my BIL has is very nice and super reliable for him. Everyones experience will be a little different.
The Cummins motors are no problem.. Just get in, keep it full of fuel and follow it where ever you want to go.
