....Hatch. So I had an Order for replacement Lavender Ameraucana bantams. Only reason I sold the ones I had. Well, they haven't hatched any chicks out, yet. Told them I would wait for however long it would take. Had planned to raise them with the few chicks I have now. Going to make it a lot more work, IF I ever get them. sigh ~~ I would just order eggs, but I have the Wheaten Ameraucana's coming...so I am full up for a couple of months. And the 12 eggs I was waiting to hatch out, the hen was off them for a day. So I have no idea if they are going to hatch or not. Another big Sigh ~~~ These were the last eggs, I had with the stock I had. They were going to be the start of one of my breeding programs. Right now, only have the 5 that hatched in the incubator. Now I am wishing I found a way to get a bigger Incubator. Keep your fingers crossed most of the bantams I have now are hens!!!

Thank you Mari.
So far, what I do have, seems to be healthy and happy.
But I can't seem to catch a break with the bantams. Have a few more months, so there is some hope.

I figure it's not always smart to count them after they're hatched, either. I went out this morning and saw my turkey hen had neatly ironed out three of her ten poults under her. You could even see her footprint. I don't know if she only taught *some* of them to eat and drink, or if she had too many under her to deal with and not squish some.
It's her first clutch and she's forgiven. But still....
The count changes every day.

I'm sorry, it sounds like you are definitely having a time of it this spring. Hopefully your chicks arrive soon and all is well.

That is horrible horseyrider.
Tell me about it Farmchix
It happens Connor, having animals isn't for the faint of heart.
New up date......
Yes!!!!! My Blue Marans hen, hatched out 8 chicks so far... all fluffed up and healthy.
Other than the 12 hour off the nest thing.... she has done great.
Brought them into the house to be with the others.
She should have 4 more eggs... if they hatch, would be wonderful but I am really happy at this point.
If all goes well, she will be one of the two Broody Hens I have hatch out my full sized Wheaten Ameraucanas. Since they will be full sized chicks, I will let her raise them. Just need to find a Large Rabbit hutch in good shape.
