I was gifted a lovely flowering mum a few weeks ago. The blooms have now become brown and I have cut them down to about 4 inches leaving some leaves. Our ground is frozen and actually doubt if this mum is winter hardy and am wondering if I can keep it alive and plant it next spring. We are in zone 5. I would appreciate any information that anyone has. Thanking you in advance. Jean

I just leave them out, they come back. Mine bloom real late in the fall and get caught by the rain. They get real tall 3'-3 1/2' and fall down so has to be staked. I stake early so they fill out into a nice even ball, late staking makes them look scraggly. I would water lightly this winter, keep it from freezing, inside and plant in the spring. I cut mine back to ground level and mulch but so far this winter they are still out there with blooms and we have had 20 degree nights....James
