I have 2 apple tree's (1 Gala and 1 Granny Smith) both are showing the same issue, on a few of the branches, near the end, all the leaves will turn brown and shrivel up. I've looked and don't see anything eating them.
Any idea's? Should I be spraying them with something to prevent this? (I'm located in north Texas Zone 8A)

Fireblight? If so, cutting off infected branches are the only thing I know to do.

Fireblight. I lost a pear tree last year to it.

Yeah, that's exactly what it looks like - thanks. I trimmed of all of it from the Granny Smith, but I think the Gala is a goner, its all over it - parts of pretty much every branch now. I've read copper sprays can help, so I'll be trying that, but wouldn't doubt I'll be cutting the tree down at some point. Luckily I only have 2 apple tree's - but too bad cause I like apples.

Granny Smith has bit of resistance. My Granny has no problem and I live in heavy blight area. Gala, Fuji, lot of the Australian developed apples are very susceptible. Ignore what they tell you in the catalogs (they wont mention if variety they sell is particularly susceptible since that would affect sales) and look for highly resistant varieties, especially if you are only going to have couple trees. Also make sure the rootstock you use is resistant too. www.cumminsnursery.com/disease.htm
