I just finished, in late September, a baby quilt for my 2nd granddaughter/grandbaby #4 who is due in the next 4-6 weeks.
Now that's complete, my thoughts are turning to Christmas presents. I'm planning to make a lap quilt for my mil using various blocks from Farm Girl Vintage and Farm Girl Vintage 2. I have picked out designs from those books that represent her.
I'd also like to make a table runner using some cute penguin fabric for my DD who likes penguins.
What sewing-type things are on your To Make For Christmas list?

Melissa, what a great idea! Flannel is so warm and snuggly. A few years ago I made pillow cases for the two oldest grandkids. Long enough ago that they'd probably like new ones more related to their current ages and interests.

I wish. Unfortunately my kids prefer store bought stuff. For the last time, I saw one of my handmade items on the floor, after being walked on-dirty and now being slept on by the dog. That was the end of making them stuff. I would love to see the pictures of what you make though.

I love handmade/homemade gifts - they're the best. So much thought and love is included in them.

I’m sorry too mzgarden, about what happened to your “to be treasured” gifts. Don’t be disheartened, there must be other gifts you made that they’ll treasure forever. I still have a pillow that my mother made all of her children. I’ve told this story here before. The pillows are all purple satin, with lace trim. She called them “ love pillows” My mother sewed a “patch” on each depending what we loved most. Mine has flowers 🌺 on it. I’m sure my brother has no idea where that pillow is and my younger sister. Only my older sister and I still have them. My sister keeps hers in her closet, mine is on my bed when it’s made and in my bed with me when I sleep❤️ There’s no better treasure than what a mother or grandmother made with her own hands.

susannah , thank you. Woodpecker ,nope, they've got nothing. I figure it's their loss. I still have things my grandmother and my mother made me. My mom needlepointed large alphabet pictures for each of my boys probably took her a year to do each one-- I have them, they didn't want them. My mom crocheted animal afghans for them, they're with me too. I tried making them some useful things too -- no go. It's either given back or we find it trashed. DH's wooden items (cherry shelves, quilt rack, big dollhouse for DGD) all came back to us. Nope, they get nothing handmade from us. Not putting our feelings out there to get stomped on anymore so we do for us, our friends, etc.

mzgarden, that's so sad. Some people are like that. Looking at the handmade things I have and treasure, I have several that my paternal grandmother made. Thinking about it, I realized that of my grandmothers, the paternal one made and the maternal one bought (and her taste was odd). Yet the precious handmade wooden things were made by my maternal grandfather.

I’m so sorry they did that with items you & hubby made...I personally don’t understand why, but you have done good for your children & Grands ....I’m sure they appreciate you and love you❤️

I have 3 aprons to make and as many dishcloths, to give as a set.
I just don't understand people who don't appreciate handmade items. I love them myself!

I am working on aprons for great nephews &niece. I made the fronts from old jeans. I used one jean pocket as the pocket. My sister(their grandmother) requested I make them as they all think they're great cooks. Then I have a gift bag to finish & hope to make some of those scrubbies from nylon net. LOTS to do and I HAVE to decorate different b/c we have the cutest kitten.
