(Asking for a friend — 😐)

We make our own "TV dinners" out of leftovers.

We seldom have enough “leftovers” to make it into the freezer. The best leftovers are things like lasagna or chili ..... ‘cause they always taste better on the second day .... but then, they are usually eaten on the second day! I should purposely make a couple large pans of those favorite foods for the sole purpose of supplying the freezer.
I have plenty of containers already so buying more containers is not what I need.
When I cook LARGE meals (for all the family 25 plus), then each adult child usually cleans out all the bowls by fixing a “to-go” bucket for their family.
I guess I was looking for advice on some of the commercial brands of prepared TV dinners. Which ones are both GOOD TASTING and NUTRITIOUS ?
HUNGRYMAN MARIE CALLENDER BANQUET SCHWAN’S ETC ....

Marie Callender, Banquet, Stauffers all have high salt content, as do MANY of the frozen TV dinners.
The best tasting TV dinners that offer a wide choice are Healthy Choice (1st place!) and Lean Cuisine and they do have lower salt than a good many do. I try to keep my salt under 500g per meal. Amy's also has some nice meals, to change things up.
I also have a day every 2-3 months where I make three different soups/other for frozen meals...yes, I do consider soup a meal! Right now I have chicken and noodles, green beans, ham, and potatoes, goulash, vegetable soup, italian bean soup, and black bean soup in the freezer in individual serving size containers.
That turns out to be very handy as whoever, or how many show up, there's a meal ready, just add a salad or sandwich!

frogmammy, Too high salt content has always been a problem for me, too. Thanks for your suggestions.. I have never heard of “Amy’s”. Will need to look for that one when I get to a larger store. And ... Healthy Choice and Lean Cuisine .... the names seem to make them a natural choice. Yes to soup as a meal!

Frogmammy, so true. My mother used to eat Weight Watchers frozen dinners. Then one of my sisters visited and read the label. Very high salt. She stopped eating them and her ankles went from swollen to normal. Tell your friend to read the labels!

The ones that taste better to me are Marie Callenders, Stouffers and Boston Market. If you read the label and see all the salt & carbs it ruins your appetite.

My husband teases me that I have never had lutefisk. One of these days I would like to get him a lutefisk TV dinner. I don't know if they exist, but they ought to. Been thinking they would sell big here in Poulsbo, our little Norwegian / Scandinavian tourist town.. .
