I was up at 6:30 working in the garden ... (Well, it was nice and cool then!) I actually woke up at 3:30 and was chomping at the bit to get out there ... I had to force myself to go back to sleep. lol May is my favorite month.

You're not insane. You can't be because I feel the same way! Oh wait! Maybe we are both insane.

I asked DH at 4 AM if he minded if I drove his pickup through the yard to the edge of the garden and turn his headlights on so I could see to plant. After checking me for fever and getting me a glass of water, he sternly ordered me to go back to sleep. I very reluctantly did so. It seems like sleep is a waste of time to me. I was a bit dehydrated and sun sick from Saturday, so he was probably right (shhhhh, don't tell him I said so!)

It is getting pretty warm here and I don't tolerate extreme heat so yep, I was in the garden at daylight (6am). I love it that time of morning. I got the watermelon trellis up, planted okra, watermelon and 4'oclocks. then got more compost added to another bed to plant peas tomorrow. I have to go to the feed store so will also pick up eggplant plants to get in the ground. Love this time of year!

willowgirl, you must be in a time zone foreign to mine, how do you go work in the garden an hour before there is any light outside ? I have tried gardening by flashlight and it did not work so well

Oh, it was light, and anyway I have a yard light right over my potting bench ... lots of nights (like tonight) I stay out until after dark!

6:30 is plenty light enough here to be working outside at this time of the year. Four days ago, I was out prepping the day's planting at 6:45. When we get hot weather, I might be out at 6:00 to beat the heat.

Yes, I like to work in the cool of the morning too! There is a stockade fence around our whole yard so I don't even worry about having to get dressed first. Most mornings, I'm out there in my leopard-print PJs. LOL

It has been so hot here and so early this year, that the only way I can work in the garden is just after the sun comes up. I love that time of the morning!

I just love those early mornings, too! My favorite time of the day. So full of promise and plans...toss in some transplants and seeds and it's heaven!
