From my FB “Greetings. This is Martin's son writing. My father passed away peacefully and comfortably overnight. He wrote his own obituary but it is on his computer and the file will not open. If I can ever figure that out,I will post it. He will be missed by many. Peace.“

I'm so sorry to hear this. May the Lord comfort his dear Sandra and their family.
Martin was such an encyclopedia of gardening wisdom and he willingly shared so freely.

Loved that man!
He had the most interesting stories and led a most interesting life. We had the opportunity to visit his home at least 3, maybe 4, times. Each time getting an in-depth garden tour. I cherish the day he gave me a hug and planted a kiss on my neck …… He had a November birthday …… no celebration this year. His STAMPS! Always looked forward to getting seeds from him. Enjoyed the seeds, but loved his varied choice of postage stamps!

Martin didn't need to suffer any more. I imagine the Good Lord was a'mind to put in more gardens and wanted to get Martin's opinion on a few things. Maybe He was a'planning to put Martin in charge. When the rest of us get to Glory I reckon Martin will have saved some seed and started some plants for us.

I’m so sorry to read this, he is a very special person. It is good however that he is not going to be suffering any longer. He will be working in Heaven, preparing the way for us.

snoozy , susannah , krisinmi , Tallpines , Melissa , mzgarden , Woodpecker , bluemingidiot , smokey , dw , mollymckee , Martin lived in Sun Prairie WI.
I have looked for the obit but have not seen one yet. He was famous and "infamous" in his town and some gardening circles, so I believe there will be a big turnout and there will be a funeral home to which you could send cards.
Feel free to keep tabs on the obit/funeral situation as I am out of pocket starting now till Monday.

Somehow. Knowing Martin I think he would prefer we start a debate or something. Ok, I will God didn't want that corner planted, but here comes Martin with a pocket full of seeds and a rabbit net debate ensure!!🧐I am sure you all know I don't mean and disrespect and Martin would agree with me. For once!! We were a few months apart in age and often argued who had gardened longest.
