When I was spinning a lot, I would have loved to have gotten my hot little hands on some of that mohair!
I feel so sorry for horned goats. No matter how gentle they start out, some human eventually feels like they have to use those horns as handles. Even if that's not the case, eventually a goat will learn to use them in ways not acceptable in human society. I have 2 wethers with big scurs, gentle as puppies, and they can hurt you even accidentally. Next time we send some to freezer camp, it will have to be those two guys simply due the safety factor.
Loved the guy commenting that they hoped the goats would stay still while the pictures were made. AS IF!!! Those are good photos and speak volumes about the photographer's patience.

My wethers are horned. I never use their horns as handles. They are leash trained so I can move them and while they have their head butt Ballet's they have never used their horns on me. I feel it's about mutual respect. I will raise my voice if they are acting inappropriately otherwise I talk to them quietly.
I do agree the photos are wonderful

hotw, I'm glad your wethers are kind and gentle. However, I've had not just kids but adults who should know better pull ears (I have Nubians), grab faces and shake the goats' heads and similar stuff. Trust me, I call the guilty party on their inappropriate behavior really quickly but it can still happen with the next visitor to the barn. The perpetrator is seldom invited back and I have banned some folks from ever coming back.
Back in the late 80's, I was invited to bring a kid goat to a class for blind and partially sighted children. My 6 day old baby buck was a huge success but when other teachers heard about his presence in the school, I was asked to extend my visit for other students to see the kid. As I was leaving, I had to pass a group of election judges who also wanted to see/pet him. This husky, quite tall young man--had to be over 21 and a voter to be an election judge--put his thumb in the kid's mouth as you'd hold a fish and shook it enough that I had to adjust my balance. Sometimes, I can act before my filter stops me. I reached up, pushed my thumb into HIS mouth and shook his head, asking how he liked it. I'd pushed his lower lip over his teeth so that he couldn't bite me without biting his own lip. In addition, I'd been handling the kid all morning so I'm sure that thumb didn't taste so good. When I realized what I'd done, I left as quickly as possible. Oh, well.
