Do you think they dyed those apples? It said they used dry jello on the apples and dehydrated them...reds and greens....<3

It's so cold & snowy today, I'm making ketchup. I measure & put tomatoes in the freezer when I can't take any more canning ...we love homemade ketchup. It warms up the house, too.

Ketchup Recipe (this is from Jackie Clays canning book) 1 gal tomatoes, 1 c. chopped onions cook & run thru food mill. Cook down to 1/2 or thick. Then add: 1c. sugar, 1TBL salt, 1TBL paprika, 1 1/2 c. vinegar and spice bag: 1 1/2 tsp celery seed, 1 stick cinnamon, 1 tsp mustard seed, 1/2 tsp cloves. Cook this for 25 min. Remove spice bag & can. It makes 4 - 1/2 pt jars. can in water bath for 10 min. I used to give away many cherry tomatoes...now I stem, wash and freeze. I measure them when I put them in bags for freezer. When I get low on ketchup...I pull bags of tomatoes out of the freezer and make ketchup. I don't use the amt of sugar in the recipe. I usually use 2/3-3/4 c. and it is just as good. I may even cut it more next time. I thought today's batch was a little thin but when I put some in the frig, it got thicker and tastes great.
