Haven't had a shark. Love Dysons- all our vacs beside roombas are dyson. Once I turned off 'max' which cycles on and off I started loving it (I thought it was repeated power failing )

We have a Dyson stick. When we had dogs and carpeting (different house), we had a Dyson Animal regular vacuum cleaner and loved that thing. It worked better than any of our previous vacuum cleaners. In this house, it's all hardwood floors except the bathrooms (natural stone) and the hall leading in from the garage (porcelain tile). Zero carpet anywhere (just a couple of throw rugs) so we finally let the Dyson Animal retire after many years. We went vacuum-less for a few years until dh wanted to try the Dyson stick vac. Honestly, we needed something beyond a broom for all the dust and SAND that gets into the house - we have sandy soil and sand is everywhere. How good does the stick vac work? I can't really say from personal experience because I have used it exactly once. And I had to pry it out of my husband's hands that time to get a chance to use it. He loves it. LOVES IT. He's hauling it out every day. And let me just say I LOVE THAT STICK VAC because I haven't had to sweep or vacuum a floor since we bought it. Since I was never a fan of vacuuming, let me repeat: I LOVE THE DYSON STICK VAC. Seriously, though, it does an amazing job and dh can get the whole house vacuumed (or swept?) in record time. Like jenn , we haven't had a Shark, so I can't comment on that brand.

I like the Shark, but I think a Dyson would have a much longer life.

I have a shark. It's better than most I've had (Hoover, Kenmore, .... blah, spit, Kirby). Easy to clean and I don't have to mess with the expense of bags. It does require cleaning frequently - we live in the country with dogs - as it will clog with hair - but it's not that big of a deal to clean it (apologies to my English teachers for the hot mess punctuation).

Have two sharks, one in the house and one in the motor home. They do a fine job picking up pet hair and as moldy, said easy to clean. I trade mine back and forth as the one in the motor home gets less use. Much better than the Kirby and one tenth the price. Motor home has a built in vacuum system, but usually use the shark, much lighter to work with.
