I need some new ideas. In the last year or two, DH has begun to tear the fitted bedsheet with his feet. Only thing I can think of is that in his sleep, he's rubbing his feet back and forth until lengthwise tears appear. He does not have restless leg syndrome, his feet do not itch or bother him, his nails are trimmed and his feet are not particularly rough.
I've zigzagged, patched and now I've sewn a folded twin sheet lengthwise across the bottom of the fitted sheet. I've bought expensive, cheap and inbetween sheets. Cotton, microfiber, poly blends - all get the lengthwise tears. I've tried buying a King flat sheet for our Queen sized bed and using that as the 'fitted' sheet by just tucking it in.
His feet are not getting uncovered (cold) and he's entirely unaware of whatever he's doing until the tears appear.
I'm at a loss. Maybe somebody that does have RLS has a solution? Sheets are not cheap and I'm tired for buying them every few months.
Thanks folks.

Would he wear socks? Are you switching the sheets top to bottom each time you change them?

He would not wear socks - too hot. I have switched the sheets top to bottom. I've patched the tears, rotated the sheets so the patch is at my head instead of his feet and we just end up with tears in both places. Thanks for the ideas though. I'm stumped.

Old bed sheets make the best bore cleaning material for firearms. Just saying.

My son only likes sheets made of Jersey material. They are soft and comfy and I’m sure would be much harder for your DH to rip through. They don’t wrinkle up and fit like a glove. In winter, would your DH like flannel, sheets? They should be much harder to tear through, too.

Does he roll around a lot? No suggestions on what sheets to buy, but I've noticed our sheets tend to wear thin on dh's side. My dh doesn't really move his legs/feet in his sleep but he does roll around. Usually to roll, he briefly puts pressure on his feet in order to lift heavier body parts.
