As long as there is money to be made cutting the timber, loggers will continue to cut it. Home Depot may make the decision not to buy it, but somebody will. There has to be a mechanism in place, to give the landowners an incentive to A) Selectively harvest, which is better for any forest, but costs more to do, and B) Replant after harvest, eschewing monoculture plantings.
