Yesterday was around 90 degrees, tonight 38 with frost maybe. Sounds about right for Ohio.

Right there with you. We have 24 layer chicks in a brooder in the barn - yesterday, top was open, heat lamp off - it was 99 degrees in the garden. Last night, brooder top is covered again, heat lamp is back on - it was 50 something and now frost forecasted for tonight. lol, yep we're in Ohio.

It was muggy yesterday and very cool this morning! We don't have any frost in the forecast here in SE Ohio. I am not ready for that yet.

Monday and Tuesday we broke/tied 2 long standing records for high temperatures. The broken record was 94o back in 2000 or 2002, I don't remember, and the new record is 99o. Tuesday, we tied one set back in the late 1890's--YES EIGHTEEN NINETIES--also 99o. Yesterday was still pretty toasty but a front went through last night and we got into the 50's. Right now, it's around 60o. Quite cool again tonight, about the same as today on Friday. Warmth back in the 10 day forecast but not hot. Thank goodness no frost forecast yet but our first average frost isn't for a couple more weeks. My little broody who is raising her chicks outside the coop is still doing a fantastic job with those babies. They are mostly fledged so I guess with her hovering over them at night, they will do just fine. I had a dear friend when we lived in central AR who had an interesting saying and to you, vickilynn, mzgarden and Melissa, I will quote her. "Better thee than me." You are all welcome to this early cold snap.

We have sunny days.. Cold, dark as the inside of a cow nights... We finely have August brown grass.. About 25% leaf color change, with about 10% on the ground..
Daily highs near 20C, lows near 1C.. Steady barometer with SSW breeze to 10km... This means fair weather coming up the river bottom from the Pacific coast..
Forgot to mention... We had our first killing frost about 13 Sept.. This just right on average for our zone 2 region..

Last 3 days have been cool, rainy and windy. Thanks to remnants of Ian. It was 42 when I went out to feed. Came back in and asked hubby to come out and help me put the windows on the chicken coop. We don't usually put them on until the end of October, at the earliest. Wild birds are trying to eat the chicken pellets and dry cat food. That's earlier than usual too. And the squirrels around here are going crazy zipping around the roads and fields.
Leaves are turning and falling faster every day. Winter isn't far behind.

Our WX guys are forecasting a frost for us Saturday morning as far south as US HWY 50 that's about 30 miles south of us running across Missouri. I am SO not ready for frost. I haven't gotten nearly enough roselle calyxes to last the year though I have plenty of plants with buds coming on. I'll cover them but as they are a tropical plant, I fear they will be toast.
I still have green tomatoes in the cattle supplement tubs in a good southern exposure. Those will be covered as well but I'm prepared for the worst.
The big sweet gum tree is golden yellow now and a lot of leaves have been falling. The maples are just beginning to turn.

I'm thinking next week we'll get frost. I have one row of tomatoes to cover and some things in pots. Also need to pick the last apple tree.
