I have an Irish Terrier which is a small dog. Very smart knows more words than any dog I have ever had.. I have been aware that she has a keen nose and could track. If she has been outside and comes in she tracks me everywhere I was in the house. This morning our walk was faster than usual as she was in the track of something. It was a hot track. So our walk was longer than usual and definitely not in a straight line.

I only know about the Jack Russell terrier, ours was a good hunter...would catch a squirrel if he wasn't fenced in. He was always super hyper, 20 lbs. of "don't you dare come on my territory" loved that little boy. Hey your Terrier gets you to walk more dustawaits, thats a good thing!

Just think about it as taking the road less travelled. And think of all the adventures your dog's nose could get you to take!

When my horse was still alive and we lived in a pretty agricultural area with plenty of lightly traveled gravel roads and "turn rows" along the fields, I would take our GSD mix and Weimaraner dogs when I went riding. The GSD, Miss Gretchen, would stay pretty close to me but once Rebel's nose hit the ground, he was off after any and every scent. I know he ran 2-3 miles for every mile Gretchen and I covered. Fortunately, if Rebel got too far away, I could whistle to him to return. Weimaraners have big floppy ears and they'd flap like Dumbo as he returned to me. It was so much fun.

Honestly I don't know if she walks me or I walk her.... I really miss my 5 mile walks..uphill and down. Not exactly the best area for walks here. The way my house is built it takes many steps to go no where.
