Mzgarden, do you have any babies due in this awful weather?

Thanks for asking - no and we're glad. We try to time our kidding to be as early in January as possible - the 4H kids prefer them born early in the show year. Our coldest month (usually ) is February, so it works not to have wet kids on the ground in the super cold. That being said, we shall see how our heavy bred girls did last night. We don't bring them into the barn away from the rest of the herd until about 5 days before earliest likely kidding date, so they're out in this nasty weather. They have a 4 sided wooden cabin with heated water, lots of bedding and extra bales of hay to stay in out of the weather, as well as a 3 sided tent type shelter with a hay feeder and lots of bedding. Of course last night I tried 3 times to get them all to stay inside the cabin but they kept going back to the tent.
Update: The boys (buck +2) seem ok, the girls not so much. For whatever reason, they won't stay in their wind-proof shelter so we moved everyone into the barn. Gotta take care of those pregnant girls and their babies, even if the chickens in the barn are confused, lol.
