US has had 168 tornados so far this year. That's the second most ever recorded.
Scientists think that very high Gulf of Mexico water temperatures may be responsible. Gulf water temperatures are 2.7 degrees above normal.
US land temperatures in January were 5.1 degrees above normal in the Lower 48. February was 2.7 degrees above average.

I know we have had at least 6 or 7 in NJ so far this year. That's almost unheard of here. Don't know how those of you who live in tornado alley handle it.
