Electric mowers are more economical to operate but cost about twice as much as gasoline powered mowers. So it takes about ten years to make up the difference, if both the electric mower and I last ten years.

I tried an electric mower several years ago. On our hills the battery didn't last the claimed time & I returned it. The gas mower needs repair now so may try again.

While all these battery operated tools, cars, mowers etc., are a good idea, the electrical grid couldn't handle all the charging needed if the masses were to switch over all at once.
We'll be sticking to our gas powered everything as long as possible. If you have heavy duty needs, hills, heavy loads to move etc., electric just doesn't cut it.

I had a small yard and a battery powered mower at my last home up north. I loved it. It didn’t have the power of gas but it was a very small inexpensive mower and very lightweight. I had a steep slope down to the river and this thing was very easy to drag up and down. If I ever leave this condo I’ll get another. It’s so nice to cut the grass without all of that noise. But it’s not for everyone.
