As the earth warms, glacial archaeologists are in a race against time to preserve objects before they are destroyed by the elements.
A glacial archeologist said, “This is a discipline that exists almost exclusively because we are in the sort of throes of catastrophic global climate change."

I have visual and aural memories of five of my great grandparents. I would like to share some weather related catastrophes that occurred in our combined lifetimes.
1900 Galveston hurricane 6,000 to 8,000
1901 eastern United States heat wave 9,500
1911 France heat wave 41,072
1912 China typhoon 220,000
1931 China floods up to 4,000,000
1936 North American heat wave 5,000+
1970 Bhola cyclone India and Bangladesh 300,000
Typhoon Nina China 229,000
1991 Bangladesh cyclone 138,866
2003 European heat wave 72,000

"Data from tree rings indicate that the megadroughts which occurred throughout the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, exceeded anything which occurred within the twentieth century in both spatial extent and duration, including the Dust Bowl of the 1930s and drought in the 1950s, but was co-equal to the drought there in the early 21st century."

What caused the megadroughts in the 12th and 13th centuries?
There were catastrophes before my great grandparents were born, there will be catastrophes after I die. Indeed, after Adam and Eve left Eden, people have always lived in catastrophic times.
As the world becomes more and more crowded with fewer and fewer people with instinctive survival skills, it is likely that death tolls will increase.
"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me."
