I bought a new boer Billy goat & doe. Have kept them separate for 1 month from my other does. My I have 2 large boer does probably 150# 2 alpine boer mix, & a lamancha boer mix. He's probably 80#. Tried to put them together yesterday. The girls beat the snot out of him & the new doe. I had to separate them. I've had goats for years. I know they have to show who's boss, but I thought they were going to kill them. Any suggestions? Thanks

Can you (or maybe you did) put them into side by side areas where they can see each other without being able to be together?

I don't have goats, but could you put the 2 new ones together with one of the older ones. Then in a few days if that goes well, introduce another of the old ones. Maybe if the news ones outnumber the old ones for a bit, things will be easier.
With chickens, I usually make sure that there are enough new pullets added to the flock at one time so that no single pullet gets picked on excessively.

Great minds think a like. I did switch a doe in with them for a couple of days, then switched out with another doe. Then put them together. They fought with him more then the new doe, still beat on him but not as bad as the fist time I put them together. He & the doe are both mostly brown with white spots. Very pretty. Thanks for the help.

Yesterday Billy was trying to mount a doe & she was standing for it wagging her tail. He would mount & the does Mom would head but him. Had to separate her for the afternoon.

The new Billy Shrek & new doe Petunia. That's what happens when you let someone else name them. Are members of the herd now although they sleep together. Petunia is low girl in the herd but they get along. Shrek has been doing his job & now isn't as stinky. Hopefully in March we will be having babies. Can't wait.

One of my boer goats acting like she is back on heat again. Shrek was doing his job again. I hope nothing is wrong with him. I'll keep an eye on the other does. He's built so nice & is marked nice.

I think I might have to get a new buck. I've hadc2 does acting like they're in heat. They stand & let him mount. I put them together in Oct. Thought I would have late March babies. Now I'm hoping I have babies. If I see does in heat in Jan. I'll have to get a new buck.

Well the Billy did his job. Last night when I went out to feed my doe had quads. 1 buck 3 does. All were clean, dry, & full bellies. I gave them vitamin e & selinum paste. When I went out this morning 1 doe was flat in stall very cold. I brought her in the house put her in bag, head out in bucket of hot water to warm quick. She didn't make it. Don't now what happened. Have 3 more due soon. 2 don't look pregnant at all.

They're all doing great. Have to name them. One is ready to pop next day or 2. Then next week 2 more. Told my boss's daughter she could name 2.

Yes very hard to have 1 die. Feel like I did something wrong. The goat that had babies Friday daughter gave birth this afternoon. She did a great job. It's her 1st birth. Had twins 1 of each. They're cute. I've never seen an ugly baby animal

Sorry about your loss, but I'm glad everyone else is doing well. While I have never seen an ugly baby animal, I'm afraid I have seen an ugly human baby.

I've seen some ugly babies too. Usually look better when they're a few days old.

Babies are doing great. Love seeing them jump around. One of my does is starting to bag up. She had twins last year as FF. She's about same size as last ones. Her sister had a single still birth last year. It was a huge doe & was stuck. Hope that doesn't happen this year.
