I have a rhododendron in my front yard that isn't thriving. It is old. My parents dug a few along the roadside years ago in another state. Two have down well, one OK, and then this one. It has no blossoms this year, though the two strong ones are covered, and doesn't seem to put out any new branches. Anything to do to revive or encourage this shrub?

So many things could be an issue. Does it have any other symptoms besides no new growth or flowers? Does it get more or less sun than the others? Is it in a spot more exposed to frost? You might take extra care to see it has a layer of mulch and there are rhodie fertilizers out there that work to keep soil appropriately acidified but without more info, it's hard to say why it is less happy than the others. Maybe it simply had more root damage than the others in moving and needs more recovery time.

They need acidic soil. What's your soil pH?

Since two are fine and one is OK, pH is not the likely issue. The one doing poorly is just a few feet from one doing well. Root damage from moving not an issue either. These have all been here for many years. Plant food on general principles is certainly doable.

So the leaves show no issue-they are as healthy as with the two thriving rhodies?

The deer ate all five of mine this winter. *sigh*
