Yes, that's Wisteria. It's beautiful, but it will take over if you don't control it

Put in a heavy tall post and train it vertical. They take to pruning and training nicely. Let wisteria develop a few thick trunks before letting it go wild above your head.

Be vicious with the pruning each year, it seems to like it and flower better than if left alone. My grans had never flowered in 20 years, untill my stepfather took it right back to a few feet tall. now it flowers beautifuly.

If you decide to dig any out and it has roots and you really really don't want to throw it away, I would send you the $$$$ to ship it to me....
Just kidding about you sending it, but I have looked all over Central WI and NO one has it. Ordering online has not worked out well for me except for Home Depot online has been great. But all the other bare root places have just not turned into vibrant plants.
I love wisteria and had some at our old log home. It just looks beautiful and the vine is also lovely. Thanks for the pictures!

We have tons of it here, at least it looks and smells nice. That kind of makes up for it getting my car all dirty.

Thanks for the pictures! I don't know if I can get to it. You have to wade through wild black raspberry canes and blackberries to get to it. You are more than welcome to come get some!

Out in the woods it grows wild in some places now, and its white Wisteria. That's how you can tell there was once an old home place there, the Wisteria is all that is left.

Our land was a mining town a long time ago. I wonder of that's where it was from. We recently cleared a lot of land in our back yard.

There is a place near me where it has gone wild- must have been planted by residents of a house which is long gone. It grows to the tops of trees (40' or taller) and has spread out over all bushy plants. Beautiful in late spring.

I always heard the white wisteria was the first to be planted, so if you find that growing it means it was a really old place there, like back in the 1800's.

It will travel underground and come up in places you may not want it. Grandma use to go around her wisteria with an ax and chop deep to cut any unwanted shoots.
