Looking good. What do you use to water all that? I have an old 2 gallon galvanized metal watering can. A few holes have been brazed up....James

In the beginning, I water everything with rainwater, using plastic watering cans. (I have a smaller one with a finer spout to get to all the small pots in the back of the flower cart.) By the time I'm done, there will be upwards of 100 pots, and then I'll switch to using a wand on the end of a garden hose. Watering that way, and deadheading as I go along, it only takes me about 20 minutes a day to take care of everything. Right now, most of the plants are still small ... rooted cuttings or seedlings, plus some bigger perennials that I overwintered in a bed in the veggie patch. By July, everything will have filled out, and it'll be a jungle out there!

That is such a beautiful sight! I am jealous, having never had any luck growing flowers. I started over 100 marigold seeds and every one of them died :-( oh well, the veggies and fruits are doing well! Maybe I will figure out flowers one of these days! Good job!

Very pretty and just plain Fun to look at! Is that a pebble bird bath too? Did you make it? I love that kind of thing.

Yes, that's a pebble bird bath, but I didn't make it! I can't remember when I got it, but I brought it here with me from Michigan.
I love birdbaths and have about a dozen, mostly homemade by gluing various bowls and bases together. It's mainly the cats who drink out of them though!

I wish you lived next to me and were willing to be hired as a gardener. I love to look but not maintain.

Thank you! I do some gardening for my housecleaning clients. Container gardens are much easier to maintain than the in-the-ground kind. No digging, no weeding!

That purple paint is Rustoleum's Painter's Touch brand ... I think the color is called Grape. I love, love, love that paint and use it for everything! I've recommended it so many times, they ought to be paying me for an endorsement. It's amazing how quickly the plants grow, especially after a good rain! I've added lots more stuff since the first pics were taken. I found the "Welcome Friends" plaque in a yard sale a couple weeks ago for $2. They're filling out!

Since I have retired I have time to putter with plants besides the vegetable garden. We always had a pretty yard in town but most was bulbs and easy to care for plants. Even roses were easy care for me. Now I have more potted plants and enjoy them. I use a 2 gallon watering can and 4 cans full of water goes a long way. We have 2 large 1/2 oak barrels in the back, filled with a petunia in front and 3 dahlias in the back of each. The petunias have cascaded all down the front and the dahlias bloom all summer. We have Glads planted behind in the bed, 4' tall and they are just starting to bloom. We have several pots on the front steps and along one side of the short walk. 3 hanging pots on the rear pergola/summer kitchen. We always plant several plants (can't remember the name right now) look like miniature petunias that hang down 3', just loaded with flowers. Sweetie has always had geraniums, we start new ones off the old ones in the greenhouse every year, we tuck 10-12 in everywhere. We have a small rose garden out back, Grandmas favorite red. Moms yellow and M-I-Ls pink/ivory in a semi circle with a small bed in front with a little pool/birdbath in the middle. I like the multicolored red to ivory roses, I have a small bed on the west side of the garage with daylilies all along the wall, 3 roses in front. We grow some orchids, Sweeties Grandfather was a breeder of orchids and gave us a few. Not really into houseplants with the greenhouse so close but there is always one on the little marble top table. We have a 3 tier black wrought iron plant stand right outside the back door. Spring we put the primroses there, after it gets too hot, we have carnations in pots for there. That is also where Sweetie's sea blue 4" glass panel (tile) collection is. They have butterflies hand blown inside. Very pretty, one is a wind chime, another a candle holder made out of 4 panels that hang on a small shepherds hook, another has a wrought iron frame and hangs from fishing line, another is on it's own garden stake. Very pretty. I collect rocks around Wallowa Lake and she collects pretty shells at the beach so we have those there too. Also a lighthouse painted on an old grey board hangs on the cabin. Our own little piece of the beach, here....James
