Spring of 2014 planted 4 lilacs. No trouble-look great this year. About 2 weeks ago we planted 3 more. Having trouble with one-noticed the following a few days ago (see pics). It had been very windy a couple of days ago and this one was really taking the brunt of the wind...Don't know if that could cause problems... Can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do? Is this some sort of rust? It's called a "James MacFarlane Lilac" if that helps...Only one I have of this variety... I really appreciate any advice any of you may have... Thanks in advance, Mari

Make sure it has a lot of water, maybe put something up to shade it and stop the wind. Looks like sun/wind scalded it. May help to trim some off to more match the root system. My guess is it can't take in as much water as needed to keep leaves well hydrated, especially the tips....James

Thanks for your reply James... I will definitely be babying it. Fortunately-the weather has calmed down a lot here (and gotten cool!). We got 2 inches of rain last night which saved us from having to water... Yeah, the day it was so windy I thought of trying to put something up to shield it but I think the winds would have blown away whatever I had tried. We had sustained at around 30-35mp with gusts around 45mph! This week looks good weather-wise so hopefully it will recover from all that stress. Thanks Again! Mari
