I wanted to post in this thread so I created it for June. I used proper spelling since my autocorrect on my iPad did not like slang.
wanted to report on my weekend at the Okanagon fiber festival. This was year two. Better attended, better venue, and better sales. I also came home with some ideas for next year. And my art batts were popular!
i just decided that I will attend Big Sky fiber festival in Hamilton, Montana which will be in 8 days. So I started skirting my remaining fall fleeces so I can take them along. I have a good friend going and she is bringing some sheep. So I will be attending the sheep show and a meeting of ISBONA. Looking forward to another fiber weekend.

Sounds like fun. I hope you have a great time. Do you have pictures of your booth?
I hope to hit the one in MO in July. I don't have a booth or anything, I'm just there to sniff and feel.

Picture taking would have been a good idea, but never crossed my mind. Today I am washing a Corriedale/merino cross fleece. I can only wash it in 8 ounce batches so it will be taking me a few days to get done. It is solid black but has brown tips. Tonight I will hand card a sample and see if I want to cut those tips off. Today is hot. 90 degrees and breezy. I want to be skirting outside but I am looking for a spot I in the shade and out of wind.

Callie, where is the one in MO? Just wondering if I am close to it. Little local yarn shop to the north of me is offering free knitting lessons during the month of June so I am taking advantage. I can crochet but not knit. I got the cast on part down. After that I keep messing up again and again and again...........

Lebanon, I think. My mom is in Ava and I hope to make a trip there about that time.
I ordered some of the wool wash that Natalie Redding had developed. It should be here this week. it's supposed to be really good - which is what I hope. I have 1 corriedale fleece and 3 corriedale/CVM/finn fleeces to get washed up - as well as 8 alpaca and 2 more llama.
And of course, I broke the front maiden on my spinning wheel. Hopefully, it will be here by the time we get back from vacation on the 20th.

I've been MIA for about a month now. . . finished the Barn Sweater I was working on, all except the buttons and blocking (needed to find the right buttons). While waiting for the buttons I started a pair of Zigzagular socks but have only gotten to the gusset so far (started them about 3? weeks ago) due to so much going on at home. Other than haying and the garden, all the crazy stuff on the calendar (graduation, wedding, graduation, open house) is over now, so I'm hoping to be able to finish the sweater and get the socks done in the next couple of weeks.

My DH managed to cobble my wheel together and I plied some llama with some alpaca. Which wasn't what I wanted to do. I spent hours spinning some white finn wool to ply with the white and gray llama...with all the trouble with my spinning wheel, I was so happy to have it working that I started plying and didn't realize it was the wrong bobbin. I had enough of both left to ply it how I planned. It's in the dye pot soaking right now. I still haven't decided what color. Maybe by morning it will come to me. The llama is from my vet. I hope to knit her up something with it.

Yes, congratulations!
We're leaving tomorrow to go see all of ours - and about 60 of DH's immediate family. Between our two families, our kids have 70+ cousins. My goal is to get a picture of me with all my grandkids- 11 of them! 2 of which I haven't met yet. We don't arrive until Sunday - it's a long drive across country.

I am heading to Hamilton, Montana tomorrow for the big sky fiber fest. I have never gone to this one. But there will be lots of Icelandic sheep and a meeting for Icelandic breeders. Not vending, but I will bring some fleeces for the parking lot sale on Sunday.
My husband is coming with me. He plans to do some day hikes. And we are taking an extra day for a short camp-out before we head home.
Should be fun!

I'm just pluggin along on the rag rugs. Fun and easy. Kind of uninspiring tho. Maybe it's the blah warp. Almost finished. Guess I'll have to warp up some stripes next.
I've got both the Weavers delight and the Table loom up for sale. Keeping fingers crossed.

...same thing I work on every month: I over did it a bit. I'm giving my hands a week off. I have design work to do when I pick it up again, I think Leaf Mark 1 is too small. I could fix it in blocking, but I prefer to not have to stretch anything overly much, do more squishing in blocking than stretching. Also dabbled with this, since I got a free ball of thread and the pattern called me:

I finished my first ever knitted item today. The lowly ole dishcloth........
Today she showed me how to do the pearl stitch but I already have two mistakes (holes), one on either side. Will probably rip it out and start over.
I do have a scarf started on smaller needles and no mistakes so far. I seem to do better with the smaller needles, for some reason. One step at a time.....

Had a great time in Hamilton, Montana. Spent all day Saturday watching the sheep show. Sold one fleece in the parking lot sale.
I came home inspired to get caught up on my fleeces. I am skirting at least one fleece each day and also washing one. So I have quite the production line going. My goal is to be all caught up by shearing time this fall. I'll keep you posted on my progress.
And I pulled some brown Icelandic yarn which I spun up several years ago. I am going to start a shawl pattern in bulky knit. So I am adding both an off-white and a pink yarn to make a bulky yarn. The pattern is knitted in garter stitch on size 11 needles so it will be a quick project.

We got in late last night. What a time driving- 3600 miles in 10 days. Now...I can start working on all the fleeces I have to wash and card. I'm so excited tog et started. I can't decide where to start.
2 of the DGK ended up with pink eye and unable to come to the reunion, so no pictue of them all together, but plenty of them separately. Darn!! I so hated to leave them behind!

I finished the first warp on the WD loom. Warped up for another run of 10 yards. This time b/w stripes - so it will take any color thrown at it. I sold the little table loom. Woo-hoo!! But I missed the Homesteading weekend! We had high water here from last week's rain so I finally decided to move the water heater upstairs to the main floor where it can't get flooded. (Been down that road several times.)!! So I spent father's day weekend pretending to be a plumber. But we had a nice visitor out back of the house. Huge soft shell turtle! He was sunning himself/herself on a log for about 3 hours. Had to be a 40 lb turtle. I'd estimate the shell at 16 inch dia. at least. Speaks volumes as to the water quality. I'm really glad to see that. The Des Plaines river has come a long way and with the dam removal planned for this and next year, the water quality should get even better. Wish I could've made it out there Cyndi. Would really love to have met some of the group! I had plans, until the rain made other plans for me. Okay off to thread up the WD loom.

I spent the week catching up...weeding especially. My mom, sister and 2 nephews will be here for this week. Not much time for fiber things. I gave a ram to a friend last year with the idea that she would give me a ewe lamb out of him this year. Then I got out of sheep. So I told her she could just give me some of her fleeces instead. they are beautiful! CVMxBFL ram- corriedalexfinn momma. 6 inch locks in shiny white. I also bought Natalie Redding's wool wash. It's supposed to be really good for getting the gunk out. I need it to stop raining so I can wash and dry fleeces. Meanwhile- I did manage to make some alpaca batts and spin a skein. I have 5 suri alpaca fleeces and don't have any idea of how to use them yet! So much to play with...so little time!

I am working on something awesome, but I can't tell or show pics because it is for a member. When it is done, which should be (better be)soon, then there will be oodles of pics! Very exciting though.

I should be working on something for my new granddaughter (due any day now) or weaving in the ends of the last sock for my daughter (might do that later today) but I've been having fun with my 5 yo granddaughter that has been visiting the past 2.5 weeks ... and planting the garden, keeping the weeds in check, getting ready for the Homesteading Weekend (check out some of the pics here).
