It was a small harvest but I always love the first harvest of the season! This was picked last night. 2 types of green beans, 3 squash, and 2 sungold cherry tomatoes! My canner will be busy tonight for the green beans I grew Contender beans and then pinto beans and harvested the pintos as green beans. they were sure prolific and a bit easier to harvest also. the pod is flatter. I can't wait to taste them! Has anyone ever grown pintos for green beans before? If so, how did you like it?

I've grown pintos for green beans and they were great. In fact, all the beans I grew were different kinds of beans that were good dried and I just planted a whole bunch extra to use as green beans.

You're picking beans and I have frost warnings in the forecast. Gardening is a crapshoot this time of year but the fishing is always good!

I love looking at what everyone else is growing/harvesting. Then I look to see where they live- and compare to what I'm doing over here. Sometimes it makes me think I need to pack it all up and relocate...
My bush beans are about 5 inches tall- I've got Provider planted. I need to get my pole beans going, but they keep getting pushed down on my list. And then I look at your picture and am reminded that I can't ever pick them if I don't get them planted. So after this cup of coffee I'm heading out there. Thanks for the push.

I planted my beans last week..... Do the pintos have strings? Yes, i noticed last night while snapping them and getting them ready to can that the pintos had more string than my Contender and they were a bit more work to snap. Those beans ended up giving me 23 quarts and one 7 quart crockpot full of beans that we will be eating on today. I would love to try pole beans and Provider beans, i haven't done either and can't wait to expand!
