Is safe to say, I think we will have a few pears from this tree this year. Going to have to thin them down a bit before the fruit
pulls down the branches any more than they are.
First 3 years, had a major Fire blight problem... Started Orchards in WA, OR and now here in VA. When I first arrived here, within a couple of months I was buying some fruit trees locally. Bad choice on my part, because that place was knowingly selling diseased trees. Having never had to deal with fire blight, I did not know what to look for.
Dug out those trees last year.. and this spring... no problems.
Seems like the only place in this area to get disease free fruit trees is Lowes. Kinds I want, should grow well here... but I can't get them local. So I am back to buying trees from Raintree Nursery.

What variety is that, Bergere?
We have a Kieffer that produces very reliably!

This one is an Ayer, supposed to be as hardy in this clime as the Kieffer.

I had heard of that variety, but had never seen one before. It looks great!
Pears are so much easier than apples, aren't they?
