We were gone on vacation for 12 days. I wasn't sure what the garden would be like when we returned, but it isn't all that bad. The neighbor watered inside the greenhouse but that's it. I was weeding the beets and realized that they were ready to go and then I noticed some broccoli.....I love harvesting. Rats...I can't get the picture to just appear.... In case you can't tell- shallots, peas, broccoli, beets, romaine and bibb lettuces. Yum!

I am so jealous. My garden this year was a bust.

Beautiful! Isn't garden grown broccoli just the best?! Seriously, I don't know how it can be so entirely different tasting from what comes in the store. It's like a completely different vegetable.

The beets are Cylindra. I only plant those. I don't have to thin them as they seem to shove each other out of the ground as they grow. I love them- lots of slices for the space.
I do love fresh broccoli. It spoils me for the stuff we buy in the winter. (as do peas!)
