Have been toying with the idea for some time, of utilizing (1) 12 volt vehicle battery to serve multi-functions around the farmette.
I.E. Having it's main use being in the truck, but being able to quickly take it out and then transfer to the riding lawn mower,
(which btw, has that tiny lawn mower battery with such low cranking amps that it's no wonder it runs down and quits so quickly.
Even better for the tractor - which presently is a 6 volt in a Ford 8N, but have plans on converting it in the future.
Well today, I took the plunge....literally and did the measurements to cut out an area behind and under the seat area
of the lawn mower and have it nearly cut thru with an abrasive blade in a circular saw. Will finish the job tomorrow with
a hacksaw, fit an additional metal support brace and then add on a couple of heavy duty cables and connectors and should be cutting grass soon.
Anyone else try this or have the same thoughts on making a single battery, function over a larger segment of different equipment on the old homestead?

there are quick connect connectors that will make that easy I have some here rated for 180 amps, got them out of a fancy yet broken backup power system then ran into a large supply of used aircraft batteries (no longer fit for aircraft service, but still working quite well), so I don't need to move one battery around till they all actually wear out

A deep cycle marine battery and welding lead connectors work very well. You can leave one end on whatever and the other connected to the battery. Just unplug and use the battery wherever you want.
