Thanks everyone! Not sure what I'll do with it. I may try to sell it or give it to our church picnic's quilt raffle.

Lovely - Would look perfect on my bed.
how did you do the flowers? Looks like you quilted it then put the flowers on top?

The flowers are applique. You cut out the pieces, sew them on, & then quilt around everything.

Well, I dropped off my quilt at the fair today along with some other things I made. I did a baby quilt, a counted cross stitch, & a small tablecloth with hummingbirds on it. I am going to the fair Monday evening & will let you know how I did. They did the judging today.

Well, I didn't win. I also entered a baby quilt & didn't win there either. That category was for machine or hand quilted & how can I compete against a machine? Those stitches are perfect & the quilt lays out better. Mine had some puckering in the quilting that they commented on. The quilt pictured here they said the binding needed work. Oh well, I still think they look good considering they are all hand stitched. Hand made usually means not perfect!

It's a beautiful quilt, Wendy! I think they should have separate classes for hand and machine quilted and divide the machine quilted to maker quilted and paid long arm quilting. Putting all of them together doesn't seem right.

Well it's just my opinion, but I personally prefer hand quilted over machine. Yes machine quilted is perfect and even and all that, but that same perfection makes the quilt look too "commercial" or something. It doesn't have the warmth and charm of hand quilting. The imperfections just add to that charm.
In my opinion anyway!

Wendy, I just love your quilt. Don't be discouraged by the hand quilting vs the machine quilting thing. If you're anything like me, I think about the person I'm making a quilt for throughout the whole process. Love and caring is built into each and every stitch, so your quilt is EXTRA special BECAUSE of the hand quilting. Machine quilting gets a quilt finished relatively quickly, sure, but it will never have quite the degree of warmth as one that someone has completed it by hand. This is what heirlooms are made of.

I can't believe they judge against hand made, so many hours and it's the true form of quilting. Your the winner in my book.

Wendy, I just saw this post and your quilt is indeed, lovely. I helped with the fair a couple years and learned a lot from the judges. Those ladies MEASURE the stitches for pity sake. Now I'm not a great seamstress, but my stitches will never all be the same size no matter what. Maybe someone will get married and you'll want to give something special, or who knows? It's really lovely and thanks for sharing it with us. Winner in my opinion!
