LOL, I know what you mean.I think we have had 15 or 20 inches of rain this month, I'm not exactly sure cause my rain gauge filled up twice and it was still pouring. One night the rain gauge filled I was told we had 8 inches.Lost 5 tomato plants and had to put several more on life support(shading with tarps and all). But they are replaced.I'm being serious when I say, I cannot remember but 3 or 4 days where we no precipitation.Just one of those years I guess.

That's the way it was here all spring. I finally had to save what I could and put in containers. For the fall I have started making raised beds with cinder blocks. No more drowned plants for me.

I can't even relate, last winter and spring had 9.4 inches of rain total and I can't imagine how the well will not run dry this summer
you are so lucky that your issues are what to do with all the water, it is way harder to deal with way to little water

I had 14 inches of water in my basement last night. Be glad when the weather dries up.

So many times people sing of April showers bringing May flowers. However, those flowers are often flooded in June. That's happened twice in the past 8 years here. June 2008 was when Lake Dalton became Dalton Creek near Wisconsin Dells. Normal for the month is about 4 inches. The total for June 2008 was a record 10.93 inches. June 2013 was just a few drops short of doing the same at 10.86 inches. That was ust here but some surrounding areas got more. In the second, I opened the old well manhole to see where the water table was. Normally it was between 14 and 17 feet below the top of the casing. I was looking down at several feet of water above it! Opened the cellar door and water was flowing through the basement. That was the only time that has happened since I bought this house in July 1963. Never want to see it again.

We are supposed to get several more inches today. Reverting back to the Great Black Swamp around here.

More rain here today also. The back field is a soppy mess, like a shallow swamp. Sigh.....mosquitoes are bad here. I don't have to hand water though, so there is that. The cellar is flooded though.

Today it's dry here but we are expecting more rain tomorrow. At this point, I would rather have the rain the all the fires in the west.

That was the only time that has happened since I bought this house in July 1963. Never want to see it again. Martin 2008 was an absolutely horrible year for rain in southern/south central Wisconsin. When the dam breached and Lake Delton basically...escaped - I agree, I would never want to see that again. I remember a friend of mine had a place that I thought was near the Crawfish River and I asked him if their place was okay because "you're near the Crawfish River, right?" He replied "no, we're IN the Crawfish River." Even in the Milwaukee suburbs, it was bad. I swear we had a river with a current flowing between our house and our neighbor's house, right along the lot line. Across the street, backyards were flooded like I'd never seen before. Amazingly enough, we didn't have a drop of water in our basement - we were the only ones I know of that didn't. As of this moment in time, I think we're still about an inch below normal precipitation for the year up here. Since we ended last year...I want to say 10 inches above normal, an inch below isn't hurting. The drought years had the lake levels so low on many of the lakes up here, so it's nice to see them at a good level. Most of them have recovered although a few still haven't come back up. I hate droughts, I hate floods...I really feel badly for those of you who are experiencing either one. Wish rain could be distributed more evenly, but it seems to be feast or famine in that department lately. So far the rain barrels haven't been in danger of emptying. The consistent rain is keeping them full - then overflowing. The gardens are happy at this moment but I know the climate can change in the blink of an eye. I've had to do very little watering this year but then, June has been relatively wet the past few years.
