Just one garlic that I planted last fall has gone yellow, so I pulled it this afternoon. It has no cloves, just one round bulb about the size of a walnut. What happened? I've grown garlic very successfully for a number of years, though at a different location in the general area. This is new to me. Thanks.

If it went yellow way before the rest of the crop and only produced a round, there was obviously something wrong with it all season. Disease would be unlikely as others would be affected. More than likely something damaged it early on and it never recovered.

I would replant it at garlic planting time and see what it does
could also just be a very tight wrapper that makes it hard to see each clove
