The typical wild rose has small pale pink flowers but produces a lot of useful rose hips. 5 years ago I went to an online specialist that had "cultivated" rugosa roses and got some gorgeous bright colors. If everything is dried up around you at a month of 100 or more degrees, I gotta tell ya,these things are gorgeous. They got huge in a few years and a little water at the base is all they need to do fine. Full scortcher sun doesn't hurt mine. If buying ,note that some of the bright flowered ones do Not have the rose hips,but some DO. Always nice to have some wild vit C around! They keep blooming for several months too. -hobby-

Wow,I'm sorry yours didn't grow. I don't know why mine did so well,maybe the wetter Spring times....but we've had drought here too. I think mine got established for two years though with wet Spring times........... Well, I hope someone might have better luck..............
