Just like everyone else that is getting hit with storms every other day, I'm tired of them! Here's what the radar looked like a little bit ago over my house. I think my house is around the "W" of Winchester, it's hard to tell on the map with all the lightening.

I'm so tired of the storms. Apparently my zucchini and many of my pumpkins and tomatoes are tired too, when I got home from work they were flattened.

This is what woke me up this morning between 5 and 5:30. There was so much lightening that it was like having a continuous firework show outside the windows.

Upon closer inspection last night, it wasn't just wind damage in my garden. Had a ton of hail punctured in peppers, tomato branches, in zucchini, and in pumpkin vines... What a wonderful year to have a garden. Lots of hard workouts and exercise for almost no return....

I am not going to get anything out of my garden. If I step in it I sink up to my ankles. The weeds are as tall as the corn & beans. Sigh............... Sure glad I can extra every year as I don't really neeeeeed anything. I just hate the time wasted & the $$ spent on seed. It rained yesterday & we are under a severe thunderstorm watch again today.

The rain just keeps on coming. I've never had my garden look this bad. Just got dumped on again, and I am hearing thunder again.

Wendy, wanna come over and pick some beans?
Everyone I talk to says their green beans aren't doing any good at all this year, but mine are as good as last year. Wondering if I should raise the price of them at farmers market. I charge $1.50 pound now, I'm wondering if I should try for $2 pound.

Luckily I haven't had any hail damage - yet. My garden is all in raised beds so it's doing better than everything else, not great just better. My yard is like a giant sponge and for someone that likes to walk around barefoot it's very icky. There are more storms working their way towards us again for this evening. I'm lucky that I don't live in a flood plain. Other parts of the state are getting slammed with flash flooding. Praying for these families, www.wkyt.com/news/headlines/315011871.html

More rain here today. We had twice our normal rainfall in June and so far this month I think we have had rain all but 3 days. It is practically depressing. The garden is not great, but not horrible. The raised beds seem to drain well and there is grass between them so I can walk out there. I picked my first two ripe tomatoes and the first zucchini yesterday. We are still getting plenty of lettuce and spinach- which would normally have bolted by now. I am also getting onions, broccoli, peas, yellow squash and radishes. The herbs are all growing nicely. I had a huge amount of grapes on the vines, but I think they will all rot. It is just too wet for grapes. The bad part is that we have not put up one bale of hay yet. Wish we could get a three day window to get some done.

It's storming here right now and my dogs are FREAKING out!! Our garden is ok this year. Been better. I do raised beds so they do drain faster I suppose.

Ok, a silver lining from our never ending rain and storms (and did I mention mud?). Power's been out in the nearby town. DH is driving by the Dairy Queen - they're out there holding signs -- all cakes and dilly bars, etc. 50% off (they have no power). Guess who has a freezer shelf with boxes of dilly bars, lol.

With all the rain, I have about given up on weeds. We are only weeding about 6" around each plant and we weedwhack the rest. I have never had my tomato plants look like they do this year. They are huge bushes, 5' across each plant. I pray we get no hail, so far we have been lucky.

Day is breaking now which means coffee time is almost over and time to get outside. By 9:30 in the morning I have to be done with whatever I have to get done. Garden is great this year. Green beans have slowed down , but not stopped. Gotta love those rattlensnake pole beans they might slow down but they keep on ticking. Goats are even seeking more naps in the shade than usual. Just miserable. Blessings, Kat
