The place I'm buying has some good rabbitat on it and adjoins some government land that provides more cover and feed. Yesterday I counted seven bunnies within two blocks of the house as I was driving in. That means there will be an abundance of them somewhere near.
When I was a kid I'd take my .22 and go hunting, sometimes bringing back six or seven rabbits. I'd skin and clean them, then Mom would fry them for the family. Took about that many to feed us all. There was no season on cotton tails then; you simply did not shoot them in warm weather. Today I see there is both a season and limits.
Do any of you hunt and eat rabbit?

Not so much anymore, but as a youngster we ate a lot of them. In college my roommates and I practically lived on them one year. Ate so many we got tired of then and started trading for other food with neighbors. We ground up the rabbit meat for sandwiches.

Use to be we killed many around here and Quail now since people quit trapping and hunting furs predators are hard on them. Plus Deer and Turkeys.
Some people just don't understand the ways anymore. Give people money in their pockets and extra meat in the freezer.

I used to hunt and eat rabbit. My husband is not a fan of either rabbit or squirrel however, so that's kind of gone by the wayside. I can be perfectly happy without eating squirrel, but didn't know how much I missed rabbit until just now. Of course I'm craving it at the moment.

When I was younger I used to rabbit hunt a lot with my Dad. I enjoyed both the hunting and the eating. In retirement, I expect to be doing it again. I may have to switch to shotgun instead of a .22. When I was 18 I could hit a running rabbit with a .22 about a third of the time but I sure can't do it now.
