A co-worker has picked several bushels of pears from her tree and wants to have a "canning party" at my house in a week or so. She has left it up to me to find some good recipes. For my family, we just want the pears in a medium simple syrup. She, on the other hand, wants to get some pickled or spiced or as she says "like bread and butter pickles but with pears." Any recipes ya'll want to share with me? I haven't found a good bread and butter pickle recipe, i lost mine a long time ago.

This isnt quite what you asked for, but if you have any access to red raspberries a handful in each jar of pears you can gives them a very pretty pink color and a wonderful raspberry flavor.

We pack the jars with Bartlett pear slices, fill jars with hot pear juice, leaving head space and pressure can them. We pressure can everything....James

Pears in brandy. Just add 1-2 TBS per quart jar. And use whatever syrup you like. Delicious!

Pears with a few almonds in the jar and some amaretto added to the syrup.
