I know you aren't to can dairy but I agree with Bev in this video ..
I am going to try this since it will be nice to have cheese sauce on the pantry shelf ...

The Bega/Red Feather company has canned butter and cheese for Australia and New Zealand for off grid "outback" folks and they've used it for decades with no problems. It's imported here too and lots of preppers get it. Their canning may be some super hot and sterile "industrial" way but that stuff lasts so long it doesn't even have exp. dates and is "generally" advertised for 10 years. So it can be done, and plenty safe, and I know folks here do cheese and butter too but I don't know how Quickly they rotate it...That would be great for those who answer to tell us! How old do you let your own canned cheese Get? Thanks for the thread aftermidnite. I'll be watching this one too.

Usually I can find it at Walmart for a reasonable price but yesterday there was none to be had at all .
I really want to do this so am going to have to look out of town on my next monthly shopping trip ..
Daughter loves mac and cheese and if this on my panrty shelf I think it will save money in the long run as well as make her one happy lady...

Aftermidnite, you might want to check out the canning cheese thread started by ozark tom. We canned the cheese sauce and it make a great pot of mac and cheese.

On my shopping trip to southern Indiana I found the #10 cans at an off the beaten path "Amish" store for $6 ... It is on my list to do within the next week or so.. I am going to do mine in half pint jars since I think they will be just the right size for most recipes .. I think I may have to get more half pint jars tho or go to pints under duress.. I don't usually use the regular mouth pints so have more of them on hand ..

Wow, #10 cans of cheese sauce for $6 is a great price! I'd love to run across a deal like that myself. All I can find in the way of cheese sauce around here is nacho sauce, and that's too spicy for my taste buds. I guess I'll have to try making the cheese sauce from scratch and canning it up.
