I bought a used Snackmaster Entree dehydrator that I just used for the first time.It seems to work o.k. and is a little faster than my Deni brand dehydrator, but wow does it ever get hot.Is that normal for this brand? I can barely touch it after it's been running for an hour or so,and frankly I think my raisins are partially cooked.I'd be hesitant to leave it running overnight, and actually turned it off when I went to bed.

I bought one used last summer and had the same issue. You are correct. It gets too hot. I had no solution other than to use it only when I just can't get everything in the Excalibar.

I have a little Nesco oven that I use for work. It's very portable and cooks better than using ovens. Love that little thing. I would try one of their dehydrators in a heartbeat!

I've never used a Deni so I checked the specs on both. The Deni is 300W of power and it heats from the bottom up.. The Snackmaster is 500W of power and has blows the heat from the top. Almost double the power of the Deni so that's one reason why it would seem to run hotter.
I've had my FD61 Snackmaster since 2008 and yeah, it can get a little hot to touch, but I just place it on top of my kitchen range out of the way and let it do it's work.
