Ok Law Enforcement sets up River watch down stream from us every weekend. People know this but every weekend it is the same. Many who float the river with their families have problems with so many acting crazy. Others feel the Law is overstepping their power.
What is your thoughts?
Oh camping on Government Land around here is rough because of Meth Cookers.
Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, announces the results of a cooperative marine enforcement saturation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Missouri Department of Conservation in Dallas County on the Niangua River on Saturday, August 8, 2015. The goal of this enforcement operation was to detect intoxicated boaters and other violations that contribute to boating crashes and drownings. Also, the enforcement location was selected based on the high number of drinking- and impairment-related boating crashes, in addition to reported behavioral problems, illegal drug usage, and underage alcohol consumption.
The following is a list of enforcement contacts made by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Missouri Department of Conservation during the saturation on the Niangua River:
Total Number Of Contacts: 187 Total Arrests: 33 Personal Floatation Device Violations: 5 Littering/Unsecure Trash Violations: 4 Minor In Possession Violations: 5 Possession Of Glass Container Violation: 1 Felony Drug Violation: 1 Misdemeanor Drug Violations: 13 Fishing Permit Violations: 2 Misdemeanor Warrant Arrests: 2 Warnings: 83

What is your thoughts? With that many infractions/arrests it sounds like that area needs them stepping in.

What is your thoughts? With that many infractions/arrests it sounds like that area needs them stepping in. I was down there one time, there was a girl there all over me, all I was wanting to do was fish.
I was hired to do a shuttle one time, they was hours late, so I called Water Patrol. The people got mad at me because they was high and messed up.
I've seen them set up Check Points on the road, half was being arrested and ticketed and half down on the river was afraid to leave. Had one Guy on Water Patrol tell me one time after a day down on the river he happen to be behind a car leaving, seen them lighting up, pulled them over, they told him they knew they was catching them on the river that is why they waited. Went to one Outfitters down there to a dance, fight broke out, one Guy hit my Son, Sons friends held me back so I wouldn't get involved. Have been camping on Government land down there, people will step just back in the woods out of Camp area and cook Meth. There is patches of Marijuana all over Government Land. Had a fight down at one Camping Area, Sheriff came in, one of the Deputies got beat to a pulp. Had people tell me not to go to certain areas or they would shoot me because they was growing Marijuana there.
They do the same at Party Cove on Lake of the Ozarks seems they feel they can do the same here.
And people wonder why I carry!!

I feel for ya Rock. I hate these dragnet operations, but by the looks of it that area needs these draconian tactics. If I lived in that area I wouldn't even go there on weekends, probably not on weekdays either. Up here I still have room, so I don't go anywhere crowded. But I have had to give up a few nice places.

What is the possession of a glass container law? On any State Waterways can not have a Glass Container because it may break and get broken glass in the water.
Another thing Unsecure Trash is Trash in bottom of Boat and Canoe not in a Bag, secured to Boat. Outfitters supply Bags for Trash. This is so if a Canoe capsizes your not throwing a bunch of Trash in the river.

I hate the necessity of the law enforcement presence, but I also hate drunken slobs on the river so I guess it's just something that you have to put up with.
